Breadmaker Prawn Toast

Ingredients

  • For the bread

  • For the toast

  • For the prawn mixture

Directions

Being gluten free doesn’t mean you have to miss out on yummy Chinese-inspired dishes. When you can cook at home, you can feel comfortable that you know that you’re eating – and that you know it’s a lot healthier!

Notes: Remember you don’t need to make the bread at the time of making your prawn toast. You can even use some slightly stale slices that might go to waste if not.

You can also make more prawn toast than you need and freeze them for another day.

Steps

1

Place your bread ingredients into the breadmaker in the order listed. Place the yeast into the yeast dispenser.

2

Set the breadmaker on the gluten free bread setting.

3

Once finished remove from the bread maker and allow to cool fully. Once cooled slice the bread. You will need 3 medium slices to make the prawn toast.

4

Very finely chop up your raw prawns (it should look a little mushy really).

5

In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients for your prawn mixture. Mix together until well combined.

6

Spread this mixture across each slice of bread and make sure you go right up to the edges.

7

Spread your sesame seeds onto a flat plate. Then place your bread prawn-side down into the sesame seeds. Repeat for all slices of bread. Sprinkle a little extra sesame seeds into any areas where there are gaps.

8

Cut your bread into triangles.

9

Heat your oven to 180°C fan.

10

Heat a generous amount of oil (4 tbsp in a medium frying pan) of oil in a frying pan on a medium heat (the more oil the better to be honest!) Place your prawn toast in, face down for around 1-2 minutes or until the sesame seeds are nice and golden. The topping should be sealed so they can be flipped.

11

Flip them over until the other side is nice and golden too. After cooking 3-4 prawn toast triangles, add 4 tbsp more oil to the pan and repeat as necessary.

12

Place all your fried prawn toast straight onto a baking sheet and place in your preheated oven for 5 minutes or so.

13

Remove from the oven, plate up and enjoy with your homemade Chinese meal!

Enjoy
